Cookies
This page lists what this website stores on your device, what each item is for and how long it stays. Anything the site does not need in order to work is set only if you agree to it, and you can change that answer further down this page.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep, so that something can be remembered between one page and the next. Some are needed to make a site work at all. Others are there to count visits or to advertise, and those are the ones you get a say in. The same rules cover the other ways a site can store something on your device, which is why the answer you give below is described here even though it is not itself a cookie.
What the site needs to work
These pages are plain HTML with no accounts, no logging in and no basket, so there is no cookie the site needs in order to show you a page. Your browser keeps its own copy of images and stylesheets, as it does for any website, and that is not something we set or can read.
The one thing kept is your answer to the cookie question. It is held in your browser's own storage rather than in a cookie, so it never travels to us with a page request, and it is there so you are not asked again on every page. It stays until you clear your browsing data or change your answer below. This one does not ask permission, because it exists only to record the permission you were asked for.
Analytics
Counts which pages people read and how they got here, so we can see what is worth writing more of.
Google Analytics. Counts visits and page views. We see totals, not individual people. We have turned off the settings that would let it be used for advertising or joined up with anything else. What they do with it
Change your answer
Turning something off here is as quick as turning it on was. Switching it off also clears what it has already put on your device, and the page reloads so that nothing carries on running in the background.
Your browser can do it too
Every browser can block cookies or clear the ones already stored, usually under privacy or site settings, and you can do that whether or not you use the controls above. Blocking everything will stop parts of many other websites from working, though it will not stop this one: nothing here needs a cookie to show you a page.
The enquiry form
The form uses no cookies. What you type reaches us only when you press send, and what happens to it after that is covered in our privacy notice.
If this changes
Anything added later that stores something on your device, or that counts your visit, does not run until you have agreed to it. You are asked before it is set rather than after, and this page describes what it is and how long it keeps before it goes live.
